A Doctor Who immersive event coming…coronavirus pending

This Doctor Who immersive event that brings fans face to face with Daleks and Cybermen sounds amazing…although who knows if it’ll be safe?

The Doctor Who franchise goes above and beyond for its fans, and it looks like they’re about to outdo themselves. In quite possibly the coolest thing to happen for Whovians ever, there are plans to open an immersive Doctor Who event next February.

Now, before I get too excited about this, I do have my concerns. Is it wise to plan something this massive and epic when we have no idea what the world will look like come next year? There’s no guarantee that the coronavirus pandemic will have come to an end, and even if it has, whether people will feel comfortable gathering together indoors? After all, every major pop culture convention went virtual this year. For all we know, that could be the new way of doing things.

Naturally, the event is taking safety precautions. And there’s a “no-questions-asked exchange policy” if you buy a ticket but want to exchange it for entry at a later date, so that’s good, at least.

Let’s pretend for a moment that all coronavirus concerns are squashed by the time this event comes around. In that case, it sounds absolutely amazing. The team behind The Great Gatsby immersive show brings us Doctor Who: Time Fracture, will bring the franchise to life in a way we’ve never seen before:

"1940–it’s the height of the Blitz. A weapon of unknown origin destroys a small corner of Mayfair, and simultaneously opens a rift in space and time. For decades, UNIT have fought undetected to protect the people of Earth from the dangers it poses. Weakened and beaten back as the fracture’s multiplied out of control, they’re close to defeat."

Everything from Daleks to Cybermen and a character from the upcoming multi-platform Time Lord Victorious will be a part of the experience, and you/me/all of us will at the epicenter of it all…as the hero!

The best part is that you don’t even have to be a fan to enjoy it. Whether you’re well-versed in Doctor Who or have never heard of it, you can strut into the experience and enjoy its wonders from start to finish. If I’m being honest, seeing a Cyberman in person would most definitely freak me out, but I’m still interested.

If you’re hoping to attend this event, tickets will go on sale in just a couple of days, on August 20. For updates on the sales, you can head to the official website and sign up for email alerts!

I know what I’ll be doing once I finish this article up.
