9. Darth Nihilus

Nicknamed the Lord of Hunger, Darth Nihilus is one of the other founders of the Sith Triumvirate. Recognizable by the skull-like mask he wears, Darth Nihilus is described as a wound in the Force, and is more spirit than actual flesh.

Darth Nihilus’ isn’t as long-lived as Darth Sion, but his story is just as fascinating. Before he took the name “Darth,” he felt the life force being drained from his planet by a weapon called the Mass Shadow Generator, which was used in an attempt to put an end to the war between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorians. As a result, Darth Nihilus craved Force Energy; it devastated his body and put him on the path to becoming the Lord of Hunger.

At first, Darth Nihilus was lost. It was not until he was found by the one who would become his Master that he learned how to control his endless hunger and use this as a weapon. He developed a technique called Force Drain, which allowed him to leech the life from another. While others have learned this skill, no one does it better than Darth Nihilus.

After he became more powerful, Darth Nihilus formed the Sith Triumvirate with his Master and Darth Sion. As with Darth Sion, Darth Nihilus’ story is definitely worth exploring in full onscreen; his origin story alone could make for a fascinating movie.

So both Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion are impressive figures. But they’re still the babies of the group…
