Caitriona Balfe’s Top 10 Best Moments as Claire Fraser on Outlander

3. Episode 306, “A. Malcolm”: Claire and Jamie finally reunite
Raise your hands if you were all in your feels over this episode. In Outlander time, this reunion was 20 years in the making, but of course, the wait for us was thankfully much shorter.
After so much time apart, and after Claire had to wonder where Jamie was or whether he was even alive, it all comes to a head here, when they meet again. Jamie adorably faints upon seeing her, and within moments, it was as if they had never spent time apart. Of course, the awkward exchanges and the quick glances were there, but they only added to the excitement of the reunion.
This moment is one of my favorites for both Claire and Caitriona because of all the nervous energy Claire gives off about seeing Jaime again, which really resonates with the audience. We may not be in her position, but Balfe makes us believe we are. Whatever Claire is feeling, we are feeling, which is a testament to Balfe’s ability.
Balfe pulls off the intimate moments between Claire and Jamie, which is tricky given the time they’ve spent apart. Their interactions had to have anxiety, embarrassment and joy all mixed together. They had, after all, aged since they last saw one another, and Claire was very cognizant of that. I love how Balfe plays to Claire’s insecurities in this scene; once again, you really empathize with her. Add in Balfe and Heughan’s time-tested chemistry and you have one of the best Outlander moments ever.
