1. “Heeeeere’s Lassie,” S06E11

Get ready for all the horror movie references you can handle in one episode! I am talking Rosemary’s Baby, The Shining, Ghostbusters and more. Normally, when you have that many horror movie references together, you get something slapstick like Scary Movie, but Psych has the incredible ability to squash references together and make it funny and cohesive.

Lassie and O’Hara arrive at a crime scene where a man hanged himself, and Lassie makes note of his great apartment. He’s in the market for a new place to live with his lady love, and this one seems just the ticket, minus the dead body.

The crime is ruled a suicide, the scene is cleaned and Lassie snags the place. He realizes pretty quickly that this building is a little strange when he starts hearing noises in the night and his chairs are randomly reorganized. And let’s not forget the creepy old twins at the end of the hallway. He reluctantly calls in Shawn and Gus to figure out what’s going on and if his apartment is actually haunted. A sleepover and a lot of blood dripping from the ceiling proves that there’s something strange in the neighborhood.

As Lassie begins to really lose his marbles, we get a Gus-centered chase scene that is one of THE BEST moments in Psych history. Hell, I’ll wager it’s one of the best moments in TV history. Gus shows his chops as a scream queen and I think he deserves a standing ovation.

Just because I had to limit myself to 10 spooky Psych episodes doesn’t mean that there aren’t many more to check out. Here’s s’more to sample: “Who Ya Gonna Call?”, “Lassie Jerky”, “Ghosts”, “A Touch of Sweevil” and “Death is in the Air.”

If this is your introduction to Psych, then welcome to the family, baby Psycho. If you’re like me and recognize Psych as one of the most perfect shows ever made, then this let this list be another reason to rewatch some of the best and spookiest episodes the show has to offer.

That’s it for now, Psychos. Stay spooky and always have a pineapple on hand! Watch all of Psych on Peacock now!
