6. “Let’s Get Hairy,” S04E08

This spooky Psych episode has everything you need: werewolves, David Naughton (the star of An American Werewolf in London), a stereotypical Goth girl who works at a store called Occultopus, baby dolls dressed as hairy wrestlers…everything.

This is another episode that is classically Psych, especially with the insults towards Lassiter. When a man comes to the Psych office in a panic, he begs for help because he is a WEREWOLF and he fears hurting someone. Animals have already been killed and he doesn’t trust himself. Shawn and Gus reluctantly agree to assist, and when their window gets broken and the man goes missing in the night (leaving just a tuft of fur behind), they decide they just might have an actual werewolf on their hands.

After some hunters meet their hairy demise, this case turns from maybe to MURDER. Is there a werewolf prowling the forests of Santa Barbara or is there a sinister plot afoot?

I love how Psych has a way of getting cameos from prominent horror or cult fandom actors. The longer the show went on, the more familiar faces show up. This episode is silly and dramatic and uses words and phrases like “thrice” and “make water in the darkness,” which I appreciate. This episode also showcases Gus’s love for spooky women, which I definitely approve of.
