Amid a public feud with Warner Bros. over Joss Whedon’s reshoots, the cast and crew of Justice League goes back to work for the Snyder Cut.

Back when Warner Bros. announced it was making the fondest wishes of DC fans come true and giving original Justice League director Zack Snyder the resources he needed to complete his legendary Snyder Cut of the movie, it was unclear if he would actually need to shoot new scenes, or if he would just work with all the material cut from the theatrical version. Now we know. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder and several original cast members will get back together in October to film new stuff.

Who exactly is involved? Well, Ben Affleck will be back as Batman, Gal Gadot will return as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill is involved as Superman, and Ray Fisher is on the call sheet as Cyborg. (There’s no word on Ezra Miller’s Flash or Jason Momoa’s Aquaman as of right now.)

The inclusion of Fisher is interesting because he is as we speak involved in a pretty messy feud with Warner Bros. To make a long story short, Fisher has accused Joss Whedon — who took over directing duties on Justice League when Snyder had to leave the set due to a family emergency — of “gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable” behavior on set, although to this day we don’t know the specifics. He also accused executives Jon Berg and Geoff Johns, neither of whom remain at the studio, for enabling him. He eventually expanded to accusing DC Films president Walter Hamada of offering to “throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus” in exchange for Fisher laying off of Johns.

It got to the point where Warner Bros. issued its own statement pushing back against Fisher, accusing him of not cooperating with an investigation the studio started into the incident, and then Fisher pushed back against that, complete with receipts. And then Momoa came out in open support of Fisher, which reportedly threw Warner Bros. for a loop because he’s planning to shoot Aquaman 2 next year.

So yeah, it’s a touchy situation. But apparently things are cool enough for Fisher to participate in the reshoots.

This story tends to swerve in wildly different directions all the time, so I’m expecting something new any second now. In the meantime, the Snyder Cut is due out on HBO Max sometime next year, to be released in four one-hour segments.
