See Ciri’s new costume in The Witcher season 2!
By Dan Selcke
At the end of the The Witcher season 1, Ciri was on the cusp of a big change. Take a look at what that means, straight from the set of season 2.
The second season of Netflix’s The Witcher took a break from filming thanks to COVID-19, but the cameras are once again rolling, and Redanian Intelligence brings us some very interesting shots from behind the scenes.
Go no further is you don’t want to be exposed to SPOILERS!
These pictures, provided by burst.photos, show actor Freya Allan (Ciri) sporting a new getup that may be familiar to Witcher fans, particularly if they’ve played the video games by CD Project Red. If you recall, the princess Ciri spent most of the first season on the run after the Nilfgaardian army invaded her home kingdom of Cintra. At the very end of the season, she finally runs into Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), to whom she is tied by destiny.
But what happens after that? Well, if you’ve read the books by Andrzej Sapkowski (last chance to bail if you don’t want to know), Geralt takes Ciri to Kaer Morhen, the witchers’ keep, where he and his colleagues train her to be a witcher. The new shots show Ciri wearing an outfit with much more maneuverability than the heavy dresses she wore in the first season, perfect for intense training:
Although there are differences, the outfit recalls the one Ciri wears in CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3, by which time she’s a full-fledged warrior:

Ciri has a long way to go before she gets to this point, but at least she has the outfit down early.
The Witcher season 2 will hit Netflix sometime in 2021.
