The Stranger Things writers just shared the titles for two episodes from the show’s upcoming fourth season. But are they just toying with us?

The Stranger Things writers love to keep fans entertained with cryptic tweets and unexpected teasers. With season 4 officially in production, it looks like they’re back to their usual (and appreciated) antics.

Other day, the official @strangerwriters Twitter account got things rolling:

Naturally, these tweets sparked fans’ interest. One asked if the writers could divulge any upcoming episode titles, and surprisingly, they obliged.

Some background: we already know the title of the premiere of season 4: “The Hellfire Club.” Now, we (may) know the titles of the next two:

So Episode 2 is titled “Tick Tok Mr. Clock” and Episode 3 is “You Snooze You Lose.” Maybe.

Let’s assume these titles are genuine. What do they mean? Is Mr. Clock an actual character? Or are they referring to an actual clock? Maybe the group is competing against time to complete a mission, or even better yet, they could be traveling back in time, perhaps to save Sheriff Hopper? Meanwhile, “You Snooze You Lose” sounds like it could relate to a clock, maybe one with an alarm that doesn’t go off. So maybe there’s some sort of countdown and they don’t make it in time.

Okay, I’m starting to feel like these guys are messing with us! Although there’s no way to know for sure. These titles sound more or less in line with quirky titles like season 2’s “MADMAX” or “Trick or Treat, Freak” but out of step with more serious titles like season 1’s “The Vanishing of Will Byers” or season 3’s “The Battle of Starcourt.”

Whether or not these titles are the real deal is yet to be seen. I’d like to think the writers were in a giving mood and truly did share them with us, but it’ll be a while before we get official confirmation.
