Ahead of the Hocus Pocus sequel (yes, they’re making one), the cast reunites for a Halloween fundraiser, with some extremely high-profile guests in tow.
Hocus Pocus came out 27 years ago. Like what? How has it almost been 3 decades since this glorious Halloween classic came out? Not a single year has gone by in my life without watching Hocus Pocus during the Halloween season, but this latest piece of news will make this spooky holiday a million times better.
Bette Midler took to her social media to share that for her annual “Hulaween” charity fundraiser, the original Sanderson sisters (herself, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) along with Doug Jones’ Billy Butcherson would be reuniting.
Doesn’t it strike joy in your heart to see these three in their Sanderson costumes? It’s like not a day has gone by!
I won’t soon forget the character of Billy Butcherson, who woke from the grave to help banish these witchy sisters once and for all. Doug Jones also posted a picture in himself back in his iconic getup, complete with decaying skin and sewn-tight mouth! Who knew a picture like this could put a smile on your face?
Under normal circumstances, this charity gala would be taking place in person. However, with COVID-19 on the loose, it’s going virtual. All proceeds will go to the New York Restoration Project, “a non-profit organization driven by the conviction that all New Yorkers deserve beautiful, high-quality public space within ready walking distance of their homes.”
If you’ve been to New York City and seen their beautiful parks, then you know the funds raised here are being put to good use!
The event, “In Search of the Sanderson Sisters,” takes place on Friday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. EST. You can purchase tickets here for $10/each. I think you’re in for a treat, because not only will the original Hocus Pocus cast members reunite, but we can look forward to these special guests:
"Glenn Close, Billy Crystal, Jamie Lee Curtis, John Debney, Samantha Diaz, Harry Guinness, Todrick Hall, Jennifer Hudson, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Michael Kors, Adam Lambert, George Lopez, Alex Moffat, Vanessa Shaw, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, John Stamos, Meryl Streep, Kenan Thompson, Sophie von Haselberg"
I’m sorry, did I read that correctly? MERYL STREEP?
If that doesn’t convince you to buy a ticket, I’m not sure what will! Especially because this is a one-time-only event that will not be broadcast afterward. All of these temptations take me back to the song from the movie where all the kids fall under the spell of Sarah Jessica Parker’s spell.
Plus, it’s something to look forward to until the Adam Shankman-directed Hocus Pocus sequel hits Disney+ in the future!
