More Connections to the Empire and the First Order

In season 1, we were introduced to two Imperial officers: the Client and Moff Gideon. Despite the fall of the Empire, they still operate in secret with a small army of Stormtroopers at their sides. One of the most interesting lines from Chapter 7 is when the Client asks the Mandalorian why Mandalore resisted Imperial expansion. He says that the Empire brought peace, security, and opportunity to every system it “touched,” and now that the Empire is gone, he sees nothing but “death and chaos.” We get a real sense of arrogance from these guys.

The second season could explore more of these small remnants of the Empire throughout the galaxy. Do these small areas give in to Imperial rule, or are they rebelling too? This would also allow the show to explore the Empire’s philosophy and why they believe they must bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy. It would give them something to do beyond just being evil and oppressive.

One last thing the show could explore through Imperial remnants is the slow rise of the First Order. As the show progresses, will we start to see these small Imperial forces increase in size and regain control of the galaxy? This could be an excellent little addition that connects the original trilogy with the sequel trilogy.
