Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen ready to take another bite at series conclusion

Hannibal star Mad Mikkelsen is just like us: he wants the series to come back for another season, and knows how it could happen.

Hannibal, NBC’s series all about the early days of serial killer Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), was terrific but short-lived. Three seasons just wan’t enough time to spend with a show this consistently excellent, and to this day, I’m hoping we get more. What happens next to Hannibal and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy)? The last we saw they embraced and then fell off a cliff. I refuse to believe they died, but we won’t know for sure until showrunner Bryan Fuller brings the series back.

Also on board with this is Mikkelsen himself, who’s happy to give the series the proper conclusion it deserves. Speaking to Empire, he explained why it could still be feasible to come back, regardless of that ending.

"I would love to see a Season 4. I would like to wrap it up. If Bryan Fuller knew that was the last one, he would have wrapped it up differently. And it’s appropriate. We could easily skip the story to four years later. We can justify it."

Yeah, four years later when Hannibal has given up his days of cannibalism and is living happily ever after with Will…or maybe Will has converted over to the dark side and developed a taste for human flesh. Either way, I’ll be happy.

Folk have been speculating about bringing back Hannibal for at least one more season for a while now. In fact, about three months back, the cast got together with Fuller for a virtual reunion and talked about it.

At this point, I think it’s just a matter of time, and any day now we will hear the official news. Stay tuned, folks!
