“I swear it by the Gotra.”

While Mando is interrogating Gor Koresh, the one-eyed character says something interesting. When Mando doubts Koresh’s information, the Abyssin exclaims, “I swear it by the Gotra.”

For those familiar with Star Wars lore, the Droid Gotra was a droid group that supported droid rights. That is why there was a droid bartender in the Mos Eisley cantina in Chapter 5, “The Gunslinger.” The previous bartender didn’t serve droids.

The Droid Gotra was first mentioned in the 2014 book Tarkin: Star Wars by James Luceno. The organization consisted of lethal repurposed battle droids with grievances against the Galactic Empire, as they were abandoned after the Clone Wars. Now, they operate in Coruscant’s underworld, where the droids work for the Crymorah syndicate and assist in many crimes across the galaxy.

But what does the Gotra have to do with Gor Koresh? That’s more of a mystery. Is he swearing by the organization? Is there something more to the Gotra that we don’t know yet? Could he be referring to something else? We’re curious to see if the Gotra gets explored in this upcoming season.
