This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Krayt Dragon

Do you remember when C3PO and R2D2 come across a large worm-like skeleton on Tatooine in A New Hope? That was the skeleton of a Krayt dragon, the same species that Mando and Vanth fight in the latest episode. While the Krayt dragon has appeared in Star Wars stories for a long time, this is the first time it’s appeared in live-action in over 40 years!

Throughout the episode, we learn more about the Krayt dragon. It can burrow beneath the sand, spray its victims with acidic venom, and possesses highly valuable pearls in its intestines. It’s gross, but at least the Tusken raiders walked away with some bling at the end of the episode.

The reveal of Krayt dragons using venom was a shock, but it provided plenty of tension and excitement. Who knew we would be learning so much more about this creature 40 years after its debut?
