10 things His Dark Materials season 2 needs to get right

Stanislaus Grumman
If the second season of His Dark Materials is going to dig deeper into Lee’s and Will’s storylines, it’s going to have to introduce us to Stanislaus Grumman, a scholar and shaman previously thought to be deceased. Remember the head Lord Asriel pulled out during the pilot episode of the show? That was supposedly Grumman’s. But as Lee travels, he begins to think otherwise.
Not only does Lee realize that Grumman may not be dead after all, but he believes finding Grumman may be the key to discovering why everyone is so obsessed with Dust. To that end, Lee sets out to locate the man. This journey gives readers more insight into both characters and their purpose in the story, and it also allows for some additional world-building (assuming the show actually touches on the Tartars and Skraelings).
Grumman also plays a major role in Will’s story, one that connects many of the mysteries laid out in season 1. The show will need to tie up those threads in order to successfully bring all these storylines together. The moment Grumman and Will meet is bound to be an emotionally packed one, too. But we’ll say no more than that.
