Bryce Dallas Howard honors her dad in latest episode of The Mandalorian
Director Bryce Dallas Howard brought us one of the best episodes of The Mandalorian so far, and it included an awesome nod to her dad Ron.
I don’t know about you, but when I sat down to watch the latest episode of of The Mandalorian, “Chapter 11: The Heiress,” I was pretty surprised to see that Bryce Dallas Howard directed the episode. I’m familiar with Howard from her performances in films like The Help, The Village and Jurassic World, but she’s actually got quite a few directing credits! She’s made several short films, directed a documentary called Dads, and more. This isn’t her first time directing an episode of The Mandalorian, either. She helmed the fourth episode of the first season, “Sanctuary.”
Filmmaking talent runs in the family. Bryce’s dad is actor and filmmaker Ron Howard, the guy behind movies like A Beautiful Mind, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Apollo 13. And if you were paying attention, you may have noticed that she paid tribute to Apollo 13 in “The Heiress.” Take a look at the scene where Mando’s Razor Crest is having a bumpy landing on the watery moon of Trask at the top of the episode:
Bryce Dallas Howard then confirmed that this moment was indeed intentional. “Nice catch!!” she wrote. “100% correct:)”
It’s really great to see Bryce Dallas Howard honor her father in such a unique way. I would never have noticed this detail and I’m so glad that someone pointed it out! Hopefully this isn’t the end of her work on the show!
Meanwhile, the influence of The Mandalorian continues to grow. An astronaut who went up to the International Space Station as part of a SpaceX launch even snuck Baby Yoda on board:
"Baby Yoda arrives at the International Space Station! from StarWars"
Just keep him away from the eggs.
