Grogu’s History

When Ahsoka meets Mando and Grogu, she is immediately drawn to the Child. She tells Mando that she knew one other person who looked like Grogu: the wise Jedi master, Yoda.

Ahsoka smiles as she remembers Yoda, which is to be expected. The thing we are curious about is Grogu’s reaction. When she mentions Yoda, he looks at her like he knows who she’s talking about. Then, he sadly looks down at the ground as if he knows Yoda is no longer alive.

Ahsoka also mentions that Grogu grew up on the Jedi temple on Coruscant, was trained by many masters, and was hidden when the Empire rose to power. We wonder if Grogu had an interaction with Yoda, since he would’ve been around the temple when Grogu lived there. Maybe Yoda even trained him.

Whatever relationship Grogu had with Yoda, he may be hiding parts of it. Ahsoka has a bit of a mind-meld with the Child and tells Mando his story, but apparently Grogu’s memory “goes dark” at one point. Is this a part of his past where he was kept in captivity? Perhaps his captors made it so he wasn’t aware of what was going on around him at the time? Or maybe he’s concealing that part of his past, whether on purpose or on instinct?

Hopefully we’ll get to learn more about Grogu and his past as the show progresses. The more we hear, the most interesting it sounds.
