Grand Admiral Thrawn

After Ahsoka defeats the magistrate, she asks her, “Where is your master? Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?”

Thrawn, a master strategist and military leader who takes control of the Empire’s remaining forces after it falls in Return of the Jedi, was originally introduced in Timothy Zahn’s 1991 novel Heir to the Empire. Even though much of the canon from those novels is now invalidated, Thrawn was so popular that he was brought in Star Wars Rebels, where he fought for the Empire in Star Wars Rebels.

The crew of the Ghost faced Thrawn and his forces several times on Rebels. He was defeated when Ezra Bridger used the Purrgil to send Thrawn’s fleet into hyperspace. Ezra was on Thrawn’s ship the Chimaera when that happened, so it’s possible they’re still together. At the end of Rebels, Ahsoka Tano and the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren set off in search of Ezra, which might be why she’s trying to locate Thrawn. Wherever Thrawn is, Ezra will be there too. We’ve suspected that Ahsoka might be searching for Ezra when Mando inevitably met her, but we didn’t expect Thrawn to be a part of it.

This begs the question: where is Sabine Wren? It is possible that Ashoka and Sabine split up to have a better chance of finding Ezra and Thrawn? Or maybe something happened to Sabine along the way.

Whatever exactly happened, we’re interested to see how Ahsoka’s quest plays out from here.
