Here’s what Travis Fimmel might look like as Daemon Targaryen

Vikings veteran Travis Fimmel is one of the top fan-casts for the role of Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon, HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel show.

The other week, we reported on a rumor that Doctor Who veteran Matt Smith might join the cast of Game of Thrones prequel show House of the Dragon as Daemon Targaryen, the hard-living, violent younger brother of King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and a key player in the Targaryen civil war at the heart of the story.

We heard a lot of opinions about that rumor, and most were pretty negative. It suffices to say that a lot of fans don’t want to see Smith in the role. But if not him, than who?

There were a couple of choices put forward, but easily the most popular was Australian model and actor Travis Fimmel, best known for playing the swaggering Ragnar Lothbrok for four seasons over on History’s Vikings. One fan even made a poster of what Fimmel might look like as Daemon, and I’ve gotta say, I could see it:

They even tinted his eyes purple. I’m not sure who made this originally, but they have my thanks.

Meanwhile, he’s a less flattering rendering of what Matt Smith might look like as a Targaryen:
