Doctor Who news: Masterful – New trailer for the Master’s 50th anniversary story revealed

With mere weeks to go until its release, a new trailer has been revealed for Masterful – the 50th-anniversary story for Doctor Who’s greatest villain!

It’s strange to think that we’re just a couple of weeks away from the start of the New Year. Not just because it’ll be great to say goodbye to 2020. Not even because we have a new episode of Doctor Who to look forward to on television. But mainly because, after over a year of waiting, we will finally see the release of Masterful – the special story celebrating the 50th-anniversary of Doctor Who‘s greatest villain.

We’ve been extremely eager for any and every possible glimpse we can get of this exciting release. Featuring at least eight different incarnations of the Master – including John Simm in his audio debut – this looks set to be a multi-Master epic like no other.

And now, with the release of the story so close, we have a brand new trailer to listen to. One that reveals quite a bit more than the initial teaser trailer did last year. (Although there’s no doubt about it – it’s extremely satisfying to hear John Simm finally say, “I am the Master…and you will obey me!”) You can listen to the brand new trailer yourself in the clip below.

So the trailer reveals quite a bit about this release. It seems that, out of all of the Masters, it’s John Simm’s incarnation that’s center stage this time. He’s having a party, and all of him is invited. But what’s the occasion? Put simply: he’s won. He’s finally achieved his goals and has become Master of all. But how? And does he have another reason for bringing so many of his incarnations together?

Well, most of his incarnations, at least. It appears that his successor, best known as Missy, hasn’t been invited. Is it because he’s unaware of her at this time? Or is there something else going on? The more we find out about this story, the more exciting it gets. And we can’t wait to listen to it when Jan 2, 2021, finally arrives.
