Geillis Duncan: Time Criminal

Last but not least, there is one Outlander character that I’ve always wanted to learn more about. Throughout the series, Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) occasionally appears and wrecks some form of havoc. She’s a woman of the 20th century, but has figured out the time-traveling nature of Craigh na Dun and periodically pops backward to change the course of Scotland’s history. That’s potentially riveting materials for a spinoff.

We’ve heard a lot about what Geillis has done in her eventful life, but have seen little of it. We know she’s a killer of husbands, seeker of wealth, and dabbles in witchcraft and paganism. We could stand to learn much more about this strange and often dangerous character.

A spinoff series about Geillis could start when she discovers the stones and what they can do, and then dive deeper into a story we only see snippets of during the show. Her motivation, goals, and intentions are all vague. Exploring what she’s doing when she’s offscreen could fill in a lot of these blanks and be very entertaining to boot. I want to know more about her life in the 20th century, and how things got to the point where she was able to get in with Dougal Mackenzie’s life. There is so much story potential here!

I’m wiling to bet that we’ll see at least one of these on our screens eventually, and possibly more than one. Any you’d like to see that we didn’t talk about?
