Leviathan Falls by James S.A. Corey (Late 2021)

Of all the science fiction and fantasy book series coming in 2021, there’s perhaps no more highly anticipated release than the final Expanse novel, Leviathan Falls. The book series by James S.A. Corey that spawned the hit SyFy / Amazon show will be getting its curtain call this year. Get ready for one last ride with James Holden and the citizens of the Belt, Earth and Mars as they face down a threat of intergalactic proportions.

The Expanse is set in a near future when humans have colonized the solar system, establishing major settlements on Earth and Mars as well as many smaller settlements in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, collectively known as the Belt. In its exploration of politics and social dynamics, The Expanse feels a bit like George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire…except it’s set in space and nine books long. It may even take the cake for the biggest series to end in 2021.

Orbit Books has yet to set a release date or unveil a synopsis for Leviathan Falls, but it was confirmed that it will be out in late 2021. All things considered, I’d almost prefer they keep the plot a secret. After eight books, six novellas and five seasons of a major television show, we all know what The Expanse is about by now. Best not to spoil the epic conclusion ahead of time!

And thus concludes the round-up. Did we miss any titles you’re excited about this year? Let us know in the comments below! (Because we all need more books, right?)
