It looks like Tom Holland is trying his best not to repeat mistakes of the past, aka give away spoilers for Marvel’s biggest features. All the hype surrounding Spider-Man 3 has everyone ridiculously curious about what exactly is in store. Are Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire really in the film, as rumored? What about Charlie Cox reprising his role as Daredevil from his Netflix TV show?

Variety interviewed Holland and tried to get answers to these questions, but he wasn’t budging. “Obviously, I can’t really say anything.”

They did get close, though; he even told them so. “What’s funny is like, I nearly told you then. You were so close to getting what you want.”

But while Holland didn’t give away anything specific, he did have something very exciting to say.

"I can say that [Spider-Man 3 is] the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made. You sit down, read the script, and see what they’re trying to do, and they’re succeeding. It’s really impressive. I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it. And I’m just, you know, again, that lucky little s**t who happens to be Spider-Man in it."

According to Holland, there’s still quite a bit of filming left to do, so who knows what he may give away between now and when the movie comes out later this year?

What is Spider-Man 3 about?

As for what makes the film “the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made,” we’ve certainly heard about it going to some pretty wild places. We already mentioned the rumors about former Spider-Men Garfield and McGuire returning, and it’s confirmed Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus are coming back, suggesting that the Spider-Man multiverse will be ini play somehow. With reports that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will play a big role, that makes sense.

At this point, anything can happen, and we’re super-excited.

Spider-Man: Subtitle-With-The-Word-Home-In-It Forthcoming will be in on theaters on December 17 of this year.
