Zack Snyder is getting a second chance in a town where second chances rarely happen. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Snyder opens up about the experience of making the movie that he always envisioned with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and how there could be a few things in the movie that fans won’t see coming.

The Snyder Cut is something that fans have been hoping for since the first version was released in 2017. How different was Joss Whedon’s Justice League from Snyder’s vision? Snyder’s wife Deborah, who produced the movie, screened the theatrical cut with executive producer Christopher Nolan, and when they left the screening room she knew her husband should never, ever see it. “Because I knew it would break his heart,” she said.

Now Snyder’s vision lands on HBO Max next month. And it sounds like Snyder might have a few surprises up his sleeve for the four-hour opus.

The Snyder Cut will feature a 4:3 format instead of the traditional widescreen so that it can be seen in IMAX at some point. The new version will have Superman in a black suit, as seen in the many teasers, and even Jared Leto’s Joker will have a role in the movie. And he’ll be dressed like this for at least part of it:

It’s the “hero cameo that will blow hard-core fans’ minds” that has fans wondering who could show up.

With work underway on The Flash, which will introduce both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s versions of Batman in the DC multiverse, there are a lot of possibilities for who make a “hero cameo.” Is it a familiar figure from DC Entertainment’s cinematic past? Could it be Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern? Brendan Thwaites as Nightwing? Is it someone, like Supergirl, who will factor into the future of the DC Extended Universe?

The possibilities are endless.

Snyder might be getting a second chance to tell a proper Justice League story in the way he originally envisioned, but he’s also giving fans a story they deserve.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League premieres on HBO Max on March 18.
