Game of Thrones: Let’s dreamcast a Robert’s Rebellion prequel show
Rhaegar Targaryen, the Dragon Prince
1. Charlie Hunnam
Hunnam became a household name while playing the lead role of Jax Teller in FX’s Sons of Anarchy. Since his breakout performance, he’s returned to his British roots, playing King Arthur in Guy Ritchie’s 2017 film Legend of the Sword.
Hunnam has the look of a leading man: he’s charming, handsome, and has sword-fighting skills to round it out. He could win fans over as the romantic, noble son of the Mad King.
2. Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Myers has the chiseled jaw, arrogant “smize,” and sex appeal necessary to take on a character like Rhaegar. Most famous for his role in Vikings and as the main character on The Tudors, Rhys-Myers has an extensive resume in the realm of medieval epics. His flirtatious, sly demeanor would be perfect for Rhaegar if he could round it out with some grounded likability.
3. Alexander Skarsgard
The ideal (yet least likely) choice for Rhaegar would be this Hollywood superstar. Skarsgard has the perfect look, and has a reputation as an actor who can come off as both likable and dangerous. His performances in True Blood and Big Little Lies say it all. It doesn’t hurt that he seems to have a love affair with HBO and I’m sure the studio would happily bring him on for this meaty role.
