Game of Thrones: Let’s dreamcast a Robert’s Rebellion prequel show
Tywin Lannister
1. Paul Bettany
Fans are looking forward to seeing this towering figure from the original show in his prime, busy playing both sides of the battle and ultimately helping overthrow King Aerys. Paul Bettany may be slightly on the young side for this version of Tywin Lannister, but he would bring the deviousness and conviction the character needs, both as Aerys’ Hand of the King and later as his worst enemy.
2. Gabriel Bryne
On the flip side, Gabriel Byrne might be a bit on the old side to play a young(er) Tywin. He may not exactly have the look, but his ability to play characters who intimidate with silence or a look cannot be questioned. He’s a brilliant actor who brings a weightiness to his performances that would suit Tywin well. His casting would highlight the characters ruthlessness and cunning as well, as his failings as a parent.
3. Kevin McKidd
Ah, just right. McKidd has the look and demeanor to perfectly embody a young Tywin Lannister’s powerful presence. Best known for his role as the steamy doctor Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy, McKidd has extensive experience playing kings and knights in fantasy projects.
