Game of Thrones: Let’s dreamcast a Robert’s Rebellion prequel show
Varys, Aerys Targaryen’s Master of Whisperers
1. Nicholas Hoult
Varys will be a difficult character to capture, as Conleth Hill gave one of the show’s best performances as the sneaky master of whisperers. During this era, Aerys has newly imported Varys from across the Narrow Sea to serve as his advisor and spymaster.
Nicholas Hoult’s character in Mad Max: Fury Road, Nux, looks a bit like what I imagine a young Varys to look like. Hoult could bring out Varys’ more optimistic side, since he’s always trying to do right by the smallfolk.
2. Jamie Campbell-Bower
Something about this man’s face just screams “Spider” to me. Shave him bald to take away some of the sex appeal, and you’re left with a young Varys who is definitely hiding a myriad of secrets underneath that devilish grin.
Jamie Campbell-Bower has experience with fantasy franchises: he’s been part of the Harry Potter universe, the Twilight saga, The Mortal Instruments and more.
3. Will Poulter
Like Hoult, Maze Runner and Black Mirror veteran Will Poulter could bring out the more idealistic side of Varys, although he still has enough more than enough grit and ruthlessness to play the sly spymaster.
