Love: Love and Thunder will bring us Matt Damon as Fake Loki, Luke Hemsworth as Fake Thor, and Melissa McCarthy as Fake Hela. Should be a good time.

In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor comes home to Asgard to find that Loki is pretending to be his father Odin and is watching a play that loosely depicts the events of the last few MCU movies. The role of Fake Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth’s brother Luke, Fake Odin is played by Sam Neil, and Fake Loki by Matt Damon.

Now, Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is working on follow-up movie Thor: Love and Thunder, and it looks like we’ll be getting another scene where big-name actors step in to play alternate versions of our favorite MCU characters. In fact, there’s a video going around of a new play scene being filmed: Luke Hemsworth is back as Fake Thor, Matt Damon is back as Fake Loki, Sam Neil returns as Fake Odin, and there’s a newcomer: Melissa McCarthy as Fake Hela.

Thor and Loki’s long-lost sister, Hela was the villain of Thor: Ragnarok. Played by Cate Blanchett, she was the embodiment of chilly evil, the literal goddess of death.

Melissa McCarthy is no slouch when it comes to drama — she got a lot of awards attention for her role in 2018’s Can You Ever Forgive Me? — but is obviously best known as a comedic actor, stealing the show in movies like Bridesmaids. Clearly, Love and Thunder plans to mine this scene for laughs just as it did with the play scene in Ragnarok…unless there’s a big twist coming we don’t know about.

Thor: Love and Thunder comes out in theaters on February 11, 2022.
