WandaVision, the first-ever Disney+ series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, wrapped up last week, and as far as we can tell, there won’t be a follow-up, at least not on TV. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the second-ever Disney+ series set in the MCU, debuts this Friday. Is this also a one-and-done thing, or will the series continue?

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige fielded questions about this the other day at a press conference for the new show. Feige understands why viewers would want to know about the potential for future seasons of these series, since that’s how television generally works. But things are a little more complicated in the MCU:

"If we were able to do another one, there’s certainly ideas. The slight difference of course is—as you’ve all heard me say and is becoming clear with WandaVision—they really will go back and forth between Disney+ series and Marvel Studios features. So where characters show up and how will sometimes be in a direct season two, will sometimes be into a feature and then an additional season, we’re just not going to say who does what right this second."

Marvel can’t reveal the fate of Disney+ series because it would be a spoiler

In other words, it would be a spoiler to reveal whether Wanda shows up in a second season of WandaVision because she is set to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and if you know she’s returning for WandaVision season 2 you’d know she survives that movie.

With this clarification, the bigger picture of how Marvel plans to incorporate the Disney+ series into its larger MCU becomes clear. The TV series have the potential to tie into movies, with characters that move seamlessly between them in a way that ties the narrative together.

With WandaVision, for example, Wanda’s story will continue in the next Doctor Strange movie. The new Vision will probably show up somewhere, and it’s safe to say fans will see Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau in the next Captain Marvel movie.

For now, Marvel fans have to sit back and trust that the studio will provide answers in future movies and series, whether or not those series have more than one season. Thankfully, Marvel has a great track record. It’s just a matter of waiting for the next movie and series to come along so that those answers can be revealed.
