It’s okay if you forget about the animal actors. To be honest, a lot of people don’t realize that some animals are specifically trained to appear on TV. They don’t realize that animals can have a long IMDb pages.

There can also be a lot of animals playing one particular character. However, when it came to the Bear on Game of Thrones, there was only one animal actor needed.

The Bear shows up in season 3. Brienne is thrown into a pit and forced to fight against the creature. The men find it hilarious that she, as a woman, wants to be a knight. They even force her to wear a dress for the fight. And they give her a wooden sword to use.

Brienne is in a lot of trouble, especially after the Bear leaves her with a deep gash in her collarbone. It’s only because of Jaime Lannister that she survives the ordeal. This was another step on Jaime’s path to redemption.

There are other bears that show up on the series, but they’re played by other bear actors. This one stands out because George R.R. Martin announced the casting on his blog, and many people already knew Bart the Bear for previous roles. You can also see him in Dr. Dolittle, the Homeward Bound movies, and more.
