11 Harry Potter spin-off series we want to see (or not)
5. Harry Potter and the Intervening Years
This show would take place between the climatic Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the epilogue chapter, “Nineteen Years Later.” This is something a lot of fans would be ecstatic over.
Can you imagine us watching our heroes slowly heal from the traumas of the war as they fall in love, make adult decisions and, for the first time in their lives, have options and time to just enjoy being young? I’m thinking of loud dinners at the Weasley house, Quidditch matches staged in courtyards, slow evenings at Grimmauld Place, long wizard chess games, Ginny becoming a professional Chaser, Harry reconnecting with Dudley, Hermione going to find her parents in Australia… additionally, we would witness all the romantic relationships we see in the epilogue to Deathly Hallows gradually blossom and develop. Our heroes could use a sabbatical (except for Hermione, she’s going straight back to Hogwarts to finish her education and add “Head Girl” to her resume).
Of course, we would also need some conflict and action. Maybe, as we witness our heroes basking in the peace following Voldemort’s defeat, we could also follow around a new evil, maybe a former Death Eater who has taken to the old ways and is intent on dominating the UK? Or perhaps a totally new threat targeting Hogwarts?
The only major problem with this idea is that it would be impossible to get the original stars of the movies — Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, etc — to return and revisit their characters. The show would need a completely brand-new cast, which I know would not sit right with many fans.
