12. Daenerys Targaryen and Drogon

What happened to the duo: This was yet another sad ending for a duo. After going mad and burning down King’s Landing, Dany finally took the Iron Throne. However, before she was even able to sit on it, Jon Snow killed her. There was no way he could let Westeros have a queen like her.

Drogon tried to wake Dany up, but couldn’t. He burned down the Iron Throne, picked up her body and carried her away.

Why they were so great: There are a few human-animal duos who stand out. There is no way we couldn’t include Daenerys and Drogon.

Dany loved all of her dragons, but not equally. Drogon was her largest and her strongest (mostly because he avoided captivity) and he was named after Dany’s first love. It was no wonder he became the one she connected to most, and the one she rode.

Drogon was fiercely protective of Dany. He would do anything for her, including risking injury when he saved her from attack at the fighting pits of Meereen.

Dragon was like a child to Dany. Come between these two at your own risk.
