5. Jon Snow and Ghost

What happened to the duo: Fortunately, this duo had a nice ending, which wasn’t guaranteed considering what happened to so many of the other direwolves on the show.

After killing Dany, Jon Snow was locked away and would have likely been sentenced to death had it not been for Tyrion talking some sense into the council. However, Jon wasn’t welcome in the Six Kingdoms or in the North anymore (although Sansa may have been able to bend the rules).

In the end, Jon was sent back to the Wall. He reunited with Ghost at Castle Black and traveled with him and Tormund beyond the Wall.

Why they were so great: Ghost may have been the runt of the litter, but he proved himself a good friend and a fierce direwolf. He was loyal to Jon throughout the series, even charging into the army of the dead to kill them again. When Jon died, he was there by his body to keep it safe.

And Jon routinely put his trust in Ghost. There was an unconditional love between the two. You really can’t beat that…unless you’re part of these final four duos:
