2. Jon Snow and Tormund

What happened to the duo: Here’s another duo who got a happy ending! Tormund had the job of leading the wildings back north beyond the Wall after the White Walkers were defeated. After Jon killed Daenerys, he was imprisoned, but Tyrion managed to talk everyone out of a death sentence. Instead, Jon was sent to the Wall. That was where Jon and Tormund reunited, and I believe Jon left with him to become the next King Beyond the Wall.

Why they were so great: Jon and Tormund were enemies at first, while Jon and Ygritte formed a bond. But over time, Tormund came to respect Jon’s abilities as a warrior and a leader, while Jon came to respect Tormund’s wildling ways. That didn’t stop Tormund from leading a charge to take down the Night’s Watch, but it failed, and neither Jon nor Tormund seemed to have hard feelings about it.

From there, they became honest-to-god friends. They fought White Walkers together at Hardhome and fought the Boltons at the Battle of the Bastards. And that friendship looks like it will last beyond the end of the series.
