The fourth season of Stranger Things is shrouded in secrecy. What new beasties will terrorize the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana? Will Eleven (Mille Bobby Brown) get her powers back? What in the world is going on with Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour), who seemed to die at the end of the third season but then popped up again in a teaser for the fourth, apparently somehow imprisoned in Siberia?

Netflix most definitely wants to keep a lock on all these secrets, so naturally Harbour chose to go on Instagram Live in the middle of a shoot and shot off his makeup and costume, which indicates that Hopper is in for a rough go of it in season 4:

“What’s up, everybody? How’s it going?” Harbour began. “I haven’t done Instagram Live in a little while. I think I can only be here for like three and a half minutes because I think I have to go to set fairly soon.”

"I’m here, shooting season four of our television show. I don’t think I’m supposed to be showing you these things. Who wants to hear spoilers for season four? Let me just read directly from the script."

Obviously, Harbour did not actually read from the script, but we can tell a lot from what he looks like. He’s wearing a nice thick coat, so I’m guessing he’s still in frigid Siberia. His head is also shaved like it was in the teaser. He’s also bloodied and dirty. Maybe he’s trying to escape whatever facility he’s held in? Or maybe that Demogorgon we saw in the stinger at the end of season 3 has broken out of captivity and is ripping off faces. I’m actually gonna bet on that one.

Millie Bobby Brown has entered the chat

Harbour stopped short when he saw that his costar and onscreen daughter Millie Bobby Brown was watching him. “Oh, no. Millie, don’t tell Netflix, don’t tell Netflix that I’m doing Instagram Live from set,” he said. “I’m just gonna read your sections of the script, Millie. I’m just gonna tell everybody what happens to Eleven this season.”

Naturally, Brown asked Harbour what he was doing. “I’m so crazy,” he said. “I shouldn’t be doing this.” That’s some self-awareness right there.

After realizing that Harbour was in his season 4 costume, Brown told him to, “Get off of Live and go back to work!” Harbour joked that he was getting fired, but Brown just thinks he’s gonna get a phone call from Netflix.

We don’t yet know when Stranger Things season 4 will drop on Netflix, or will replace Sheriff Hopper after Netflix cans him. We’ll keep our ear to the ground on both counts.
