Do you root for the baddies on Game of Thrones? What are your favorite villainous quotes from the show? Take our quiz and test your knowledge.

While many people tend to root for the heroes of a show or movie, others secretly hope the villains come out victorious. When it comes to a series like Game of Thrones, the bad guys are so complex and cunning it’s sometimes hard not to at least appreciate them. And they always get the best lines.

If you’re a sucker for the antagonists, test your knowledge on them with our quiz below:

So, how’d you do? It might be easier to remember these iconic lines from the Game of Thrones villains just because of how deranged they are. Despite my disgust for Ramsay Bolton and Joffrey Baratheon, I’d remember some of their quotes forever!

George R.R. Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series on which Game of Thrones is based, once discussed how he goes about creating villains. While being interviewed for a segment on PBS in 2018, the famed writer said:

"I don’t try to write anyone who’s, “Oh, I’m a villain. Let me get up today and just go out and do villainy and pull the world [in]to darkness.” They all have grievances. They all have wounds, and they have things that drive them to do the things that they do."

That sentiment certainly applies to many of the villains of Game of Thrones, even if they’re hard for the viewer to sympathize with. Characters like Cersei Lannister clearly have emotional trauma they haven’t properly dealt with, and even if we don’t agree with their actions, the story wouldn’t be as awesome without them!
