Game of Thrones is famous for its many, MANY characters deaths. How well do you remember them? Take our quiz and find out!
Whether you’ve seen the show front to finish only once or more times than you can count, you know that this story doesn’t play around when it comes to character death. Take our quiz below to see if you remember how these characters met their fate.
While some Game of Thrones deaths are arguably much sadder than others (looking at you, Red Wedding), nearly all of them are shocking in one way or another. And we have A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin to thank for that. The way Martin unapologetically kills characters off has become one of his trademarks.
Martin took inspiration from The Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien while writing ASOIAF. Back in 2018, the New Jersey native talked about Gandalf’s death, explaining that this moment, “had a profound effect on my own willingness to kill characters at the drop of a hat.”
For those who hadn’t read A Game of Thrones before starting the HBO series, there was nothing quite like Ned Stark’s unexpected execution in season 1 to kick off the epic story. Now, as we’re coming up on the 10-year anniversary of that moment (Ned was murdered in the episode “Baelor,” which debuted on June 12, 2011), it’s as good a time as any to remember all the wild deaths that went down throughout the show’s eight-season run.
