Across the Narrow Sea in Pentos, we first meet Daenerys Targaryen and her brother Viserys, the last two living Targaryens (that we know of). Trying to reclaim his father’s seat on the Iron Throne, Viserys plots to amass an army to retake Westeros by marrying off his younger sister to the leader of the Dothraki, Khal Drogo.

During the riotous wedding, Daenerys is gifted with two things that will become crucial to her evolution into a fierce, passionate and resourceful leader: books of the history of the Seven Kingdoms from Ser Jorah Mormont and a case of three petrified dragon eggs from Magister Illyrio Mopatis. The Targaryen sigil is the dragon. Centuries before, their ancestors even rode them, but those days are long gone…are are they?
