Joaquin Torres becomes the new Falcon

At the start of “Truth,” Sam’s wings are ruined in a fight with Walker. While it was upsetting to see Sam’s beloved wings get taken from him, especially since he lost Redwing earlier in the series, he does have the shield now.

But does this mean the Falcon is gone for good? Not likely. Sam’s Air Force liaison Joaquin Torres had the wings last we saw them, and Sam told him he could keep them.

In the comics, Joaquin takes up the mantle of the Falcon and works alongside Sam’s Captain America. Captain America needs a Falcon, and Joaquin has been acting as a sidekick since he was introduced, so this makes perfect sense.

Does this mean we will see Joaquin as the Falcon in the next episode? Possibly, but we aren’t betting on it. Instead, what we could see is a post-credit scene of Joaquin repairing the wings or a one-off line alluding to him becoming the next Falcon, only for him to show up in action in a future series or movie.

Regardless, we’re excited about what’s in store for this character. Plus, a Latino character as a hero in the MCU, or possibly a future Avenger, is a win in our books.
