In a good sign for fans, The Wheel of Time changes social media handle

The official social media handles for Amazon’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time have been updated, presumably in preparation for the multinational corporation to start highlighting the original TV series, which has been in production for a long while now. As fans of Robert Jordan’s beloved novels cross fingers and toes in hopes of a teaser trailer, this is a positive sign.

Before this, the social media handle for the show was “WOTonPrime.” Now, it’s taken ownership of its rightful name, “TheWheelOfTime.” Cheers and congratulations to the person who sold them the rights to that account. It may not seem outrageously important, but it seems like an essential move to establish authenticity and make it easier to attract new audiences as marketing starts to ramp up.

So far, promotional content for The Wheel of Time series has mostly been aimed at the already converted, with Amazon dropping micro-teases of images and sounds from the show. It’s a smart strategy because passionate book fans act as marketers themselves, increasing attention to the series by suggesting it to friends, growing the community and creating user-generated content.

The Wheel of Time marketing is about to blow up

From the start of production in 2019, the social media team has always engaged with fans of the series and made sure that their voices were heard; for example, they hired Sarah Nakamura to make sure the show accurately reflects the novels. The strategy has since helped The Wheel of Time stay relevant and engaging during a grueling pandemic that put the production into disarray.

Today, the sun is shining and the future looks bright for The Wheel of Time fans. Actors have been spotted returning to set in the Czech Republic for some time now and production seems to be up and running once again. Readers may have enjoyed the few years of hidden hype away from the spotlight, but prepare to adjust as The Wheel of Time soars to new heights.
