The Wheel of Time debuts first look at Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran

The Wheel of Time gives fans a first look at what Daniel Henney looks like as warder Lan Mandragoran. Watch him slice and dice!
Amazon is making a TV adaptation of Robert Jordan’s 14-book strong The Wheel of Time series, a fantasy epic that has never had a good adaptation despite being very popular.
This could be a huge hit for Amazon if they do it right, and so far, it looks like they are. For instance, they just released the first look at Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran, an expert swordsman character who plays a big role throughout the books. Take a look:
Slice! Dice! Henney looks great as Lan, and brings the sense of confidence and danger the character needs. Or at least that’s my impression from this micro-teaser. A few weeks back they shared a similar split-second looks at what Rosamund Pike will look like as Moiraine Damodred.
Moiraine and Lan are closely linked in this story. She is an Aes Sedai sorcerer, a powerful member of a powerful organization who helps set the story in motion when she comes to the sleepy fantasy backwater of Emond’s Field, where she collects our young heroes and whisks them away on an adventure. Think of her as the Gandalf of the story. Lan is her warder, a warrior bound to protect her through magic, although he has his own destiny that unfolds as the tale goes on.
Filming on The Wheel of Time has hit a couple of snags here and there thanks to the pandemic, but Deadline reports that shooting is wrapping up on the first season. Expect it sometime in 2022.
