These days it seems like everyone has a podcast. Given the glut, it can be pretty difficult to find a hook big enough to draw in a crowd. But Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd — who played Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took in The Lord of the Rings movies — already have a solid foundation: they’ll be chatting about all things Middle-earth!

Named The Friendship Onion, the upcoming podcast series will chronicle various stories from the set of Peter Jackson’s iconic films. The two will also answer whatever questions fans send in. They’ll also have plenty of guests appearances from crew members and familiar faces from the franchise. See the official description:

"Join your favorite Hobbits, friends and co-stars, Billy Boyd and Dom Monaghan as they take a look back at their time on The Lord of the Rings. Featuring interviews with cast and crew, diving deep into life behind the scenes, and answering the many fan questions, The Friendship Onion will peel back the layers of their friendship, both on screen and off."

Monaghan and Boyd may have finished playing their characters almost two decades ago in The Return of the King (2003), but the trilogy still endures. And with Amazon developing their own (very very expensiveLOTR series, there’s no better time to reminisce about the past of the franchise.

So, what else can we expect from The Friendship Onion? Take a look at the short trailer below. It sounds like we’re in for a lot of laughs to go with the behind-the-scenes tea:

“I am contractually obliged to make a glowing comment here in regards to the podcast Billy and I are making together,” Monaghan joked in a statement. “This is proving difficult as Billy has abducted me and is holding me for ransom to the price of 44 bananas. Please, send bananas.”

Boyd had a jokey statement, too: “Dom took a little persuading, it’s true, but this podcast is going to rock. He is such a joker, you have to love Dom. Ha….but you also have to love bananas, so….yes, send bananas.”

If that doesn’t get you excited for this podcast, I don’t know what will. The first episode drops on May 18, with additional episodes arriving on a weekly basis. As always, it’s available on most podcast platforms, including Spotify and Apple. Should you prefer video, it’s also simulcast on YouTube.
