Rose Leslie’s Game of Thrones character, Ygritte, died way back in the fourth season of HBO’s fantasy epic, but fans haven’t forgotten her fiery performance as Jon Snow’s wildling paramour. (Neither did Jon Snow actor Kit Harington, who ended up marrying her.) And Leslie herself went on to have an impressive career, starring in shows like The Good Fight and now, her own HBO drama.

Leslie will star alongside Theo James in The Time Traveler’s Wife, an adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s 2003 novel of the same name. It’s about a guy named Henry who has a rare genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably (just go with it), and his wife Clare, who must deal with a husband  who vanishes and shows up in weird places all the time.

Will The Time Traveler’s Wife be good this time?

The Time Traveler’s Wife has been adapted before, as a 2009 movie starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams that nobody liked. Maybe that’s why HBO thought there was space for another go at the material.

“This is a story of loss but it’s not a tragedy,” said writer and executive producer Steven Moffat. “It’s about a time traveler but it’s not science fiction. Despite Clare and Henry’s time scrambled relationship, this is the tale of a grand, ordinary love – but not necessarily in that order. This is a dream project for me. I have always loved Audrey Niffenegger’s extraordinary, moving novel and it has inspired me many times, so to be adapting it for television is the thrill of a lifetime.”

Moffat also promised that the new adaption will “be the love story we need right now.”

The Time Traveler’s Wife will run for six episodes on HBO, although we don’t yet know when.
