If plant-loving Batman villain Poison Ivy were to join the DC Extended Universe, who should play her? Let’s explore a few potential options!

Poison Ivy, aka Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, is one of Batman’s most iconic villains. Also a love interest of Harley Quinn, Ivy has never really been given a great opportunity to shine on the big screen. However, as the DC Extended Universe continues to expand and add more classic characters to its ever-growing continuity, perhaps Ivy will soon get another chance at a live-action movie.

Of course, we cannot talk about Poison Ivy without mentioning her one live-action appearance. Back in 1997’s critically panned Batman & Robin, Ivy was portrayed by Uma Thurman. Sadly, the movie didn’t live up to expectations and pretty much single-handedly killed the ’90s Batman franchise. Even Geroge Clooney, who played Batman, is still embarrassed by his performance. Yikes!

On the other hand, Ivy has seen plenty of success on the animated side of things, so maybe now is the time for her to return to live-action.

With the gargantuan resurgence in superhero movies in recent times, fronted by the MCU and the DCEU, it’s only natural that fans want to see these classic characters in action, and Poison Ivy is high on the list. Even Morgot Robbie, Harley Quinn herself, is trying to bring Poison Ivy into the fold by pestering the execs at WarnerMedia about it. “I chew their ear off about it all the time,” she said.

So if Poison Ivy were to join the DC Extended Universe, who should play her? Let’s explore a few potential options!

Sophie Turner is Poison Ivy

Game of Thrones veterans have been involved in lots of exciting projects since their time in Westeros, including comic book movies. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) featured in X-Men spin-off The New Mutants, and both Charles Dance (Tywin) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) will appear in Netflix’s The Sandman. And both Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark) will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Eternals.

Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) already has more experience within comic book adaptations than any of them. She played Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. The latter may have been one of the most disappointing entries into the X-Men movie franchise, but Turner has definitely proven herself as a great and versatile actress in a range of roles.

I think it’s time for her to make her DC debut as Poison Ivy alongside Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. She certainly looks the part, particularly when her hair is dyed red for Game of Thrones. Could she bring the high intensity and twisted charm required for Ivy? It’s a challenging role for any actress, and I’d be very interested to see what Turner could bring to it.
