Let’s dream-cast a live-action Poison Ivy in the DCEU

You probably know Katheryn Winnick from her six seasons playing shieldmaiden Lagertha in Vikings. She was one of the longest-serving actors on the show and made the role her own. Fans couldn’t get enough of Lagertha. Now that some time has passed, fans are wondering where we’ll see her next. I think it’s about time she starred in a superhero movie.

By looks alone, it’s clear she would have to dye her hair and become a redhead, or wear a wig. That’s a given, right? In terms of her style, Vikings fans will tell you all about how much of a badass Lagertha was. The countless battles, the brutality, the length she goes to protect her family…Lagertha oozes strength, all courtesy of Winnick. She can also do both taekwondo and karate. Of of this would be very useful as Poison Ivy, who should feel like a threat whenever she’s onscreen.

We’ve not seen enough of Winnick in box office-breaking, big screen spectaculars. At 43, she may well be a little old to play Ivy, especially if they want to pursue her romantic relationship with Harley Quinn. Nevertheless, if they want to maybe tackle the character from a different angle, Winnick needs to be considered.

My first choice for Winnick would have been Black Canary, but that role was picked up by Jurnee Smollett in Birds of Prey. That said, I still think she’d make a terrific Ivy. She has earned the opportunity to be handed a role as coveted as this.
