Sam Heughan is hoping to a part on Outlander for Doctor Who and Marvel veteran Karen Gillan, who’s a newly minted superfan of the series. Gillan, who fans will remember as Amy Pond on Doctor Who and Nebula in the MCU, recently watched started Outlander and is “officially obsessed”.

Heughan was quick to respond: “Still time to find you a wee part Karen…” And to this we all say, YES PLEASE! As a red-headed Scot, she’s perfect for the series. I don’t who she would play, but I’m sure they could find a place for her somewhere.

Gillan’s response to Sam Heughan was hilarious: she asked if she could be an “extra loitering around Inverness”. I mean she was born there, so it’d work out.

Well, except for the fact that the Frasers aren’t in Scotland anymore. But hey, when there’s a will, there’s a way.

Who could Karen Gillan play in Outlander?

The exchange between Heughan and Gillan took place last week, and in the days since Outlander fans have had a lot to be excited about. The team just wrapped production on season 6, which is set to premiere in early 2022 with a 90-minute premiere episode.

Sadly, the sixth season will only have eight episodes; however, season 7 will have a whopping 16 episodes to compensate! Perhaps there will be a role for Karen Gillan somewhere in there?

I know that Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) only have one grown daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton). And they’re not going to have any more, but if they had, I would imagine Gillan being the perfect actress for that role.

Brianna and Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) do have a daughter named Amanda in the Outlander books at some point. Unfortunately, she has curly black hair so that rules out Karen Gillan’s beautiful ginger hair. Sure, she could wear a wig but she needs to be able to show off that gorgeous authentic Scottish hair, right?

This won’t stop us from looking through the archives of Outlander characters though!
