In the latest fallout from the investigation into John Barrowman’s inappropriate conduct on the sets of Doctor Who and Torchwood, Radio Times reports that a new graphic novel focusing on the adventures of his character, Captain Jack, has been put on hold.

The project, which was referred to by the temporary title of “Doctor Who 2021 Event” on the Penguin Random house website, has since been removed from the site. This follows Big Finish’s decision to cancel the release of Torchwood: Absent Friends, and the decision not to use a Barrowman segment in the upcoming theatrical event Doctor Who: Time Fracture.

In summary, cast and crew members have accused Barrowman of exposing himself on set. Barrowman acknowledged and apologized for his actions in 2008, but the allegations resurfaced amid an investigation into his Doctor Who co-star Noel Clarke, who has been accused of sexual harassment on set.

John Barrowman Doctor Who projects are on hold amid allegations

According to The Guardian, Clarke himself talked about Barrowman’s behavior at a 2014 fan convention. Unlike with the predatory sexual harassment that Clarke is accused of, much of the cast interviewed saw a big difference between Clarke and Barrowman’s actions. Barrowman characterized what he did as “exuberant behaviour,” noting that, “Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.”

Fans were thrilled to see Captain Jack Harkness make an appearance in the most recent season of Doctor Who, so hopefully these projects can be released at some point in the future.
