When does Marvel’s Secret Invasion premiere on Disney+?

Marvel Studios has been hitting home run after home run with its series on Disney+. The first two shows to be released, WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, were huge hits, and Loki started generating buzz as soon as the project was announced. The demand for Marvel Studios shows has never been higher, and Marvel’s Secret Invasion promises to be another big hit. When will it arrive on Disney+?

As of this writing, there is no planned release date for Secret Invasion, but given the trajectory of the series release schedule it looks like it will land at some point in 2022.

Secret Invasion is tied to a story established in Captain Marvel: the Skrulls have always been seen as villains, but in this case a group of rogue Skrulls have been living among humans and helping Nick Fury. Everything gets complicated when bad Skrulls arrive and infiltrate the Avengers.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion sets up possible team-ups

Secret Invasion will feature Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as good Skrull Talos, along with Kingsley Ben-Adir and Olivia Colman. Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

With ties to the Avengers, Captain Marvel, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, Secret Invasion will likely provide a nice segue to the next phase of Marvel films and series as characters cross over from one franchise to another. This is particularly true as Disney works to bring 20th Century properties into the Marvel Studios fold.

Thanks to their shapeshifting abilities, the Skrulls can infiltrate any level of government or group, including SWORD and the Avengers. With that in mind, it’s possible that some characters have really been Skrulls all along, which that sets up fascinating possibilities for future stories.

Though there is no known release date for Secret Invasion at this point, it’s very likely that fans will be able to tune in at some point in 2022.
