In Solo: A Star Wars StoryGame of Thrones veteran Emilia Clarke plays Qi’ra, a mysterious woman from Han Solo’s past who’s secretly working for a criminal organization. It was a meaty part that recently got revived on the pages of a new Star Wars comic book, but when she first auditioned for the movie, she didn’t know any of this.

“The people behind it are the best at what they do; it’s amazing to be a part of that high pedigree,” Clarke told Variety about her role in the upcoming Marvel show Secret Invasion. “But Marvel, Star Wars, they all give you fake audition sides. I remember for Star Wars, the character I read was a made-up music producer.”

Maybe her audition character was going to finally produce an album by the cantina band? I mean, they’ve waiting for over 40 years now.

Companies are going to crazy lengths now to avoid spoilers

But seriously, the idea of fake audition characters and fake scenes and exploding scripts have all become pretty common nowadays, when everyone is always on the hunt for spoilers and it’s easier than ever to take a picture of a set or something and release it online. Clarke already had a lot of experience with that kind of thing when she was playing Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones.

Personally, I think companies should just embrace the fact that fans are going to find out what’s going on anyway and just release information straight-up. But someone’s gotta be the first to step up, or stand down, as it were.

As for Clarke, between her roles in Game of ThronesStar Wars and soon enough Marvel, she’s on top of the industry.
