10.  The strange death of Walder Frey

Ah, yes, Walder Frey. Vindictive, lustful, greedy Walder Frey, who has had nine wives and fathered 30 trueborn children and countless bastards. We hadn’t seen him in a while when Arya killed him in season 6, though, first appearing in the guise of girl Walder confirmed wasn’t a relation before manhandling. I guess the show wanted to remind us that, while horrible, Walder Frey was above slapping his many daughters in the rear, just in case we had him confused with Craster, I guess. A truly caring father indeed.

Another thing that feels off about his death scene is that the hall is conveniently empty when Arya makes her move. Arya confesses having killed Black Walder and Lothar (whose body parts are in the pie she serves Walder). But Lord Frey has over a hundred descendants who are known for incessantly seeking his favor, many of whom we see in the season 7 premiere when Arya wears Walder’s own face to destroy House Frey once and for all. Most of Walder’s descendants live at the Twins with him. So why was no one in the hall during mealtime? To me it just feels like convenience so Arya could make her dramatic move.
