I still get second-hand embarrassment watching Jaime and Bronn in Dorne in season 5. They really marched into the Water Gardens and thought they could just smack Prince Trystane Martell and abduct Princess Myrcella in broad daylight with no consequences?
That Jaime Lannister, who learned from Arthur Dayne himself, would walk into such a situation with no shred of a plan, ready to improvise, is absurd. What’s worse? As the season progresses, it is proven that all that chaos truly was pointless: if Jaime had walked up to Doran asking his leave to take Myrcella back to King’s Landing, the Prince of Dorne would have let him. As a Kingsguard knight bearing King Tommen’s seal and as Myrcella’s own uncle (officially), Doran could in no way have refused Jaime’s request. nor did he seem to want to. The fight scene with the Sand Snakes wasn’t nearly entertaining enough to offset this.
